Get the most out of Guitaring

Pick where you are. Each tip is one thing to do and where to do it.

Your first chords and your first songs, a few minutes a day.

  1. Tune up before you play

Open the tuner (the tuning fork icon). Pluck one string, turn its peg until the needle sits in the middle, then do the next.

    Open the tuner
  2. Learn one chord at a time

Lessons start with Em, then Am. Each chord you learn unlocks songs that only use chords you know.

    Start lessons
  3. Play songs you can already play

Songs shows "Playable now" for songs that use only your chords, and "One chord away" for the next ones to try.

    Open Songs
  4. Slow a song down

In any song, use Speed to slow the music and the chords together, and Loop to repeat the hard line until it feels easy.

    Pick a song
  5. Practise little and often

Pick 2 to 5 days a week. Ten minutes counts, rest days cost nothing, and Today tells you what to play next.

    Set your week
  6. Ask when you are stuck

The coach answers questions like "my strings buzz" or "how do I hold G". 3 free questions a day.
